Two More Books

That's right, two more books to talk about. I haven't been reading at quite the clip I'd like, but this does make fifteen books so far this year, and that's not bad at all! What was my original goal? Thirty for the year? I think that someone I might just manage to exceed that goal by a few titles. . . . Anyway. Onward to the books.
First, The Virgin Suicides by Jeffrey Eugenides. Lovely, lovely, just as I remembered it. I mean, it's sad, don't get me wrong. But the sheer beauty that lies in the details; the descriptive passages; the raw angst of the girls' desperation and the boys' helpless desire to know and love them. . . . I fall in love with this book every time. Can't help myself. If you haven't read this yet, please, please do.
Second, City of Glass by Cassandra Clare. The third volume in the Mortal Instruments trilogy. And it was great! A wild ride through what happens to Jace and Clary when everything comes to a head. Really, this whole trilogy is just great dark urban fantasy for teens, and I highly recommend it. Highly. The characters are solid and easy to empathize with, and a lot of the action happens in New York, so it's familiar stomping ground (for me, at least!). Also, the characters are fabulously sarcastic and snarky. These books are just a lot of fun!
So. Still working on The Floating Book, as mentioned in March. I've got two other ones I've started reading, as well, so hopefully I'll have another book ramble for you in the near future. In the meantime, have a good evening!

Are you going to get me a copy of THE VIRGIN SUICIDES when the new edition comes out?
