your mouth is poison, your mouth is wine

Good morning. Not a lot to report, really. Just slogging through a LOT of work both in the office and at home before I fly back to Oregon for a week on Saturday. I'm really hoping for a low-stress trip. Some family time, some friend time, some goddaughter time. Some writing. And a decent amount of sleep. This will be the first time that I've left Zoe at home, and while I have two people lined up to feed her, I still have some guilt. I know she'll be fine. But the first time leaving a pet is always difficult.
I've managed to read another book since last I typed here. 20) The Vanishing Act by Mette Jakobsen. I picked up a copy of this at BEA, mostly because Erin Morgenstern (The Night Circus) blurbed it and I LOVED that book. This one was also very good. Bittersweet. It's a short novel about love and loss, told from the perspective of a precocious twelve year old. If you like your fiction with a tony bit of magic realism and a lot of wonder, check this one out.
Speaking of books, I need to choose what books are going on the airplane with me. Always a tough decision! I'm also taking some writing and some freelancing. Freelancing will only happen on the airplane, though, I promise. I'm not going on vacation to work the whole time.
On the home front, I've fixed my desk as well as I can, so I think tonight I'll be putting new hardware on and filling up the drawers. That's a big step forward in unfucking my office at home!
It's time for me to eat breakfast and get to work. Happy Tuesday, everyone! Blessed Be!
